Hi, I’m Somin!
I am a masters student at the College of Information & Computer Sciences, University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Presently, I am also a member of the HCI-VIS Lab supervised by Prof. Narges Mahyar.
My research interests lie broadly in understanding and communicating vast amounts of complex data encoded in text. Towards that end, I combine methods from natural language processing and information extraction to enable effective data analysis and communication. I am especially interested in data present in the vast biomedical literature and in the digital civics domain.
My favorite pastimes are eating & debating. I also like to read & travel quite a bit (whenever I get the chance). I am also a (mediocre) runner!
